Compartmentation Surveys

Compartmentation is the provision of sub-dividing a building into smaller sections. These compartments withstand and limit the growth/damage of a fire by preventing fires and smoke with the use of fire resisting constructions.

Our surveyors methodically survey compartment walls and/or floors to check for imperfections, service penetrations and the likes of. The purpose of this survey is to ascertain if the buildings fire compartments are adequately sealed and protected.

Approved Document B states: “If a fire separating element is to be effective, then every joint, or imperfection of fit, or opening to allow services to pass through the element, should be adequately protected by sealing or firestopping so that the fire resistance of the element is not impaired”.

Our surveyors are fully qualified to carry out inspections of an array of Passive Fire Systems, such as penetration seals, cavity barriers, linear gap seals, structural steel protection, fire rated glazing.
